How to memorize effectively

Memorization is built on three daily tasks:

  1. New lesson: a few verses, recited to your teacher before you move on.
  2. Recent revision: the last pages you memorized, every day.
  3. Old revision: a fixed portion of everything memorized before, in rotation.

Listen to a skilled reciter first, read from the same printed mushaf every time, and repeat each verse until you can recite it without looking. Link the end of each verse to the beginning of the next.
